Hello and Goodbye! we hate to miss you, but we were just on our way out…
After A great year filled with new friends and priceless moments, we are closing shop at 3309 mission st. Bad Joe’s Classes will no longer continue after our last class on August 24th. Please check the calendar for our current class schedule as it has been altered. A limited number of private lessons are still available through August and We still have a few special classes introducing some fantastic teachers in the neighborhood and we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to check them out. If you have a package that you purchased from the single social media outlet we worked with…don’t fret! We will continue to honor any outstanding packages. We are very grateful for the opportunity to serve this neighborhood this past year, and to witness incredible changes in the way our members move. Watching bodies become strong and move with ease and agility has been immensely rewarding and we look forward to witnessing more at the various places we will continue to teach at around the city. We are compiling a list of studios’ gyms, and fitness centers where your favorite trainers will continue training in hope you keep up the good work. Our email and phone remain active and we can put you in touch with a specific trainer if you are unable to locate them. Any questions regarding equipment, space, etc. can be send here as well and will be forwarded to the appropriate person. Thank you for a great year, we wish you the very best….Bad Joe’s Body Shop.
Who is Bad Joe?
Bad Joe is our ode to Joe Pilates. Gymnast, boxer, drinker, healer, cigar smoker, womanizer, circus performer, wrestler, skier, partier, inventor, physical fitness guru.
Though he was described as a skinny and sickly child who lost his left eye in a fight with bullies, he died as fit and limber in his 80′s as many people are in their 20′s. Joe dedicated his life to developing physical and mental strength while never abandoning his dedication to beer and cigars. Many are surprised to learn that his equipment, which is now costly and sophisticated, was originally created with bed springs and beer kegs.
The extent and depth of Joe’s work has spawned many interpretations and styles now known as “Pilates”. His inventive nature and commitment to continuously reinventing his work has made possible a method that is accessible and beneficial for every body and mind.
At Bad Joe’s we honor the diversity of Joe Pilate’s passions, from yoga to boxing, push-ups to cubans, being zen to being an asshole; from a childhood of challenges to a lifetime of being strong.
